Organisations are considered as fighting(a) learning associations which can be established on the instauration of objectives and aims of their creators and members (Burnes, 2004). Hereby, the objective of the paper is to recognise the various aspects of learning along with its core principles and tenets. Furthermore, the paper aims at understanding the benefits and challenges faced by an established company by introducing learning. Core Tenets of Learning Any kind of organisation such as commercial organisations, educational institutions, non-profit organisations and community groups can be regarded as learning or ganisations. The nature of learning and its method that takes place within a company is defined by the organisational polish and groups. There are legion(predicate) ways in which organisations introduce and increase learning. The core tenets involved in a learning process can be apparently identified with reference to the following theories. Behavioural Theory of Learning In swan to make organisations learn there is need for employees involved with it, to learn as well. Employees in an organisation learn as they perform according to expectations. The behaviourist theory describes the visible behaviours created by learners reaction to stimuli. reply to stimuli can be strengthened with positive or negative responses to conditions of desired behav iours (Hughes, 2006). The behaviourist theory presents learning as a multifaceted procedure of reactions to numerous types of different stimuli. Jennings Bryan considering the evolution theory incredible worried about the erosion of the young peoples moral health. According to his logic the evolution theory and the low percentage of the believers among youth presented a real threat to the future of the society. Having received the strong support from the worried parents he decided to fight teaching Darwinism at schools. In early 1925 his governmental campaign resulted in a legislative changes, known as the Butler Act which prohibited the denial of the Biblical account of mans foundation and teaching of the evolution theory in the public schools of Tennessee.1 So it was no surprise when Bryan received a request to join the prosecution team in the Dayton trial on behalf of the Worlds Christian Fundamentals Association and local prosecutor Sue Hicks (Linder, William Jennings Bryan). In contrast Clarence Darrow, as a modernist, had antonym views on the religion vs. science issue. When Darrow found out that Bryans was going to lead the prosecution team, he decided to volunteer to challenge Bryans program and him personally. Hence, teaching of evolution as a scientific theory does not contradict to the First Amendment. Single price monopoly involves interchange its entire output unit at similar prices to all customers. This strategy builds on the flux in look at for goods. In an elastic environment, single price monopoly works best by increasing the intersection of a unit and reducing the selling price thereby, increasing marginal gross that translates to profits. However, in a rigid demand market setting, fall of price in the output translates to decrease in total revenue. In such markets, monopolies reduce the number of units produced and sum up the price of each unit. This will dec rease the total cost but increase the income profits (Duffy 120).In a perfect competition market, equilibrium occurs when the demand is equal to supply in regard to unit quantity and price. On the other hand, equilibrium in a single price monopoly markets occurs when the marginal revenue and the marginal cost are equal. Monopoly equilibrium relies on a higher price smaller output strategy. Perfect market competition is more efficient than a monopoly market because the marginal friendly benefits and the marginal social costs are equal. This equilibrium describes the maximization of consumer surplus and producer surplus hence production of efficient output. Firms that run a monopoly are not able to get maximum outputs from the available inputs. In summary, marginal social benefit exceeds marginal social cost leading to dead weight loss. However, this discrepancy can be averted through rent seeking which is the process of redirecting the surplus from a

Actors and Acting Essay Example | Topics and Well Written Essays - 500 words

Actors and Acting - Essay ExampleJust like the stories world told, there are also various categories that these actors fall into, depending on the role being portrayed. The 5 definitions of actors are impersonators, interpreters, personality, wild card and characters. These are the actor types that I will be discussing in the following pages. To get started, I first necessity to discuss the Impersonator. Our text clearly defines this type of actor as suggesting that the actor has simply copied the manner, dialect, and behavior of a character, instead of creating the character. Examples of effective character acting provided as an example include the portrayal of Phillip Seymour Hoffman of Capote, an impersonation job which, due to its effectivity, won the actor an Oscar, and Helen Mirren as Queen Elizabeth in The Queen. As an impersonator, they were required to be as similiar as possible to the real life person they were portraying. For Hoffman, it was the trademark lisp, for Mirre n, it was her uncanny resemblance to the actual Queen. Aside from these two people, another effective personator who comes to my mind is plain-spoken Langella in Nixon. His similarity in looks and his ability to copy the actual speech pattern of Pres. Richard Nixon helped the audience immerse in a total viewing experience. He was not just acting as the president, there were actually times when you would believe that he was the president because of the way he conducted himself while in character.

Relationship between organizational leadership, culture and Dissertation

Relationship between organizational leadership, culture and performance in family businesses - Dissertation poserHowever, there is a dearth of research regarding the extent to which the founder is able to embed strategic behaviors into family theater management and culture or the degree to which these behaviors meet the financial performance of these firms (Sorenson, 2000). Some effort has been made to examine the leadership styles of family firm leaders and the relationship of these styles to family and non-family members (Kellerman, 2008). Aldrich and Cliff (2003) suggested that entrepreneurial leadership attributes likely influenced family firm strategies, processes, and structures. Sorenson (2000) found that participative leaders achieved high performance in both the family and the business dimensions of the firm. The findings of the test hypotheses regarding performance outcomes in these studies were not conclusive regarding the effects of leadership styles on performance. Re search on the leadership styles of the founder and their effect on family and non-family members may provide insight into family firm performance (Sharma, 2004). Cosi Shows Us That Fairytale Endings Do Not Reflect Real Life EssayCosi is a play cross out in the 1970s, when Australia and the world were veneer political complexities, such as the conflict against the communist g all overnment and the happenning of the Vietnam War. It was a time when people had to choose their loyalties, causing outstanding frustration and tearing the community apart. We are able to involve this in Cosi in the lives of two best mates Nick and Lewis, as their priorities and commitments during that period of time, as well as conflicting social views with the rise of different social conventions such as free love during the 1970s. It is a play within a play with parallel runnings with Mozarts opera Cosi Fan Tutte, both plays explore the meanings of love and fidelity and how Lucy parallels the infidelity of the women in Cosi Fan Tutte. Nowra also allows us to see how the theatre works its magic, as a therapy not only for the unreasonable but as well as the san e. As we slowly see the roller blossoming towards the end of the play, Lewis ends it by announcing some fateful happenings of the cast such as the deaths of Julie and Henry, giving an unfairytale resembling ending to the play. However not all had the similar fate, we see how Ruths obsessive compulsive disorder allowed her to become a time and motion expert and Zacs eccentricity making him a escape from and roll player. Cosi fan Tutte main theme is about a womans infidelity towards man. Despite the opera being set in the 1700s and facing problems with love and fidelity, it proves that cabaret motionlessness hasnt changed in that perspective with the characters in Cosi mirroring some of its values. The free love movement during the 1970s also shows how caller is becoming much more liberal in character and less conservative. The influence also ca wasting diseased a seperation between the community as some still stick to their conservative views such as Lewis, Nick and Lucy. Lucy r edefined the modern meaning of fidelity by claiming she only had sex with Nick, but slept with Lewis. Lewis himself also holds his very virgule view on fidelity, despite his obvious attraction towards Julie, he still claims his fidelity by not having sex with Julie counterbalance though he kissed her. This shows the societys gradual evolvement by beginning to define its meaning of fidelity with thereferences to sex only. Nowra allows us to observe the discrimination and social defining shipway of the people by beginning the play in a burnt out theatre, displaying the neglect shown towards the mental patients and the seperation it had formed between the sane and insane people. They are just people who have done extraordinary things, thought extraordinary thoughts. Nowra shows the fine line drawn between the sane and insane, and that those in the foundation are not always as what the society defines them. The act of isolating mental patients shows the peoples way of dealing with k inks in the society, an easy solution. Julie for instance, is only sane however has an addiction to drugs, They dont know how to deal with drug users shows how the people had either the lack of knowledge or wasnt aegir enough to dwell into and solve the problem. Instead, Julie was prescribed more drugs for her habit, which did not break and caused her death in the future with an overdose.Zac also displays the extremities of drug consumption, causing him to have no control over himself and later not being able to appear in the opera. Such as Cosi Fan Tuttes use of Mesmer magnets and Cosis use of shock treatment for magnets showed the societys inefficient way of dealing with problems. Through Cosi, whether insane of sane, the cast blossomed as they progressed on into the play and just like Justins main aim to bring them out of their shells, Lewis suceeded. Not only with them but from a shy and confused young man, Lewis came out with a stronger aesthesis of leadership and confidence. He was more certain on what he wanted compared to earlier where he allowed Roy to grab his glory. Lewis broke up with Lucy and learned to console Roy onwards the opera showing a huge improvement from his character before, he proved Roy wrong. The cast showed lots of gratitude towards him in the end of the play even with Henry stuttering a Tttthank you, who before this could only communicate with the form of shaking his head.Despite his improvement in speech and confidence, Nowra made his fate a sad one showing the unrealistic fairytale endings, along with Julies overdose despite being discharged. Roy had showed no improvement with his continuous enthusiasm over the wards where his fellow patients took petitions to get rid of him. But with Ruth and Zacs improved careers, Nowra shows that there are still hopes in fairytale endings.

Common Intention Essay Example for Free

Common Intention Essay role 149 deals with the 5 or more people as that would account for unlawful assembly here section 34 is not applicable. constituent 34 talks about car park spirit whereas section 149 talks about common object such as the common object have a wider scope. Common intention is if ii or more person commits any crime with the same intention and under a prearranged plan, but in common objectit is not essential that there should be a prior concert in the sense of a meeting of the members of the unlawful assembly, the common object may form on spur of the moment it is enough if it is adopted by on the whole the members and is shared by all of them. In section 34 Participation of the people in crime is an important aspect, even standing people who indirectly help in commissioning of crime are also prosecuted. But in Section 149 mere membership of the group of an unlawful assembly is sufficient enough for prosecution. Section 34 is substantive present and other sections like 302 murder has to be clubbed with it. Section 149 is a constructive crime in itself.Section 34 Acts Done by Several Persons in Furtherance of Common Intention-According to Section 34, when a criminal act is done by several persons in furtherance of common intention of all, each of such persons is liable for that act in the same manner as if it were done by him alone. Object of Section 34-Section 34 lays down only a rule of evidence and does not create a substantive offence. This section is intended to meet cases in which it may be difficult to distinguish between the acts of the single embers of a party or to prove exactly what part was taken by each of them in furtherance of the common intention of all. This section really performer that if two or more persons intentionally do a thing jointly, it is just the same as if each of them has done it individually. The reason why all are deemed guilty in such cases is that the presence of accomplices gives encouragement, s upport and protection to the person actually committing an act. Elements of Section 34To attract the application of Section 34, the following(a) conditions must be satisfied- 1.Some Criminal Act Criminal act used in section 34 does not refer to individual acts where a crime is committed by a group of persons. Where a crime is committed by several persons in furtherance of common intention of all of them, each of them doing some act, similar or diverse, big or small shall be liable for that act. That act refers to the criminal act used in section 34 which means the unity of criminal behaviour which results in something for which an individual would be punishable if it were all done by himself alone in an offence. . Criminal Act Done By Several Persons The criminal act in question must have been done by several persons i. e. by more than one person. The number of wrong doers should be at least two. Most importantly, if the criminal act was fresh and independent act springing wholly f rom the perspicacity of the doer, the others are not liable merely because when it was done they were intending to be partakers with the doer in a different criminal act. 3.

Usefulness Of Maxima And Minima Of Functions Engineering Essay

Usefulness Of Maxima And Minima Of Functions Engineering EssayThe mathematical concept of a ply expresses the intuitive idea that wiz quantity(input) completely de declineines another quantity (output). A function assigns a unique honour or output to individually input of a specified type. The assembly line and the cheer may be real numbers, but they can also be elements from any given effects the playing sports stadium and the co-domain of the function.Whenever a relationship exists between dickens variables (or quantities) such that for every value of the beginning, there is only one comparable value of the abet, then we sayThe second variable is a function of the startle variable. The first variable is the self-employed person variable (usually x), and the second variable is the dependent variable (usually y).The independent variable and the dependent variable ar real numbers. The bourne function is just a type of operator which transforms the given input to output a ccording to the given conditions. This operator relates two or more quantities to to each one other, the quantities ar k this instantn as variables. Out of total variables only one is independent and all other are dependent on that variable. unitary on the button definition of a function is that it consists of an ordered triple of sets, which may be written as (X, Y, F). X is the domain of the function, Y is the co-domain, and F is a set of ordered pairs. In each of these ordered pairs (a, b), the first element a is from the domain, the second element b is from the co-domain, and every element in the domain is the first element in one and only one ordered pair. The set of all b is known as the image of the function. Some authors use the term represent to mean the image, others to mean the co-domain.The notation XY indicates that is a function with domain X and co-domain Y.(Domain implies input whereas range or co-domain implies output.)In most practical situations, the domai n and co-domain are understood from context, and only the relationship between the input and output is given. Thusis usually written asHere the two variables are x and y out of which x is independent and y is dependent on x. From the other side if we consider y as independent variable then x is dependent on y.Every function can be plotted on graph or more hardly Argand Plain. The graph of function may be a straight line, a continuous curve, a circle, an ellipse or even a charge up also. register OF MAXIMA AND MINIMASince origin of life, all people knew, talked, applied the concept of maxima and minima in their daily lives without even knowing about the concept of maxima and minima. In the earlier phase of while the kings used to estimate the uttermost and nominal army of the opposite side, doctors used to record nominal and upper limit symptom of any disease, cooks used to estimate the supreme and minimum quantity of food or people before any function, the businessmen used to estimate utmost and minimum profit or privation in any transaction. Even today also the women in the house prepare the food according to level best or minimum consumption by each individual.Sir Issac Newton, a great scientist, invented the concept of functions and hence concept of maxima or minima. Since then his concepts are very usefully applicable in our daily lives. subject TIME CONCEPTS OF MAXIMA AND MINIMAThe monetary value maxima and minima refer to extreme set of a function, that is, the maximum and minimum values that the function attains. Maximum means upper bound or largest possible quantity. The absolute maximum of a function is the largest number contained in the range of the function. That is, if f(a) is great than or equal to f(x), for all x in the domain of the function, then f(a) is the absolute maximum. For example, the function f(x) = -162 + 32x + 6 has a maximum value of 22 occurring at x = 1. Every value of x produces a value of the function that is less than or equal to 22, hence, 22 is an absolute maximum. In terms of its graph, the absolute maximum of a function is the value of the function that corresponds to the highest point on the graph. Conversely, minimum means lower bound or least possible quantity. The absolute minimum of a function is the smallest number in its range and corresponds to the value of the function at the lowest point of its graph. If f(a) is less than or equal to f(x), for all x in the domain of the function, then f(a) is an absolute minimum. As an example, f(x) = 322 32x 6 has an absolute minimum of -22, because every value of x produces a value greater than or equal to -22.In some cases, a function will take away no absolute maximum or minimum. For instance the function f(x) = 1/x has no absolute maximum value, nor does f(x) = -1/x have an absolute minimum. In still other cases, functions may have coitus (or local) maxima and minima. Relative means relative to local or nearby values of the function. T he terms relative maxima and relative minima refer to the largest, or least, value that a function takes on over some small portion or interval of its domain. Thus, if f(b) is greater than or equal to f(b h) for small values of h, then f(b) is a local maximum if f(b) is less than or equal to f(b h), then f(b) is a relative minimum. finding the maxima and minima, both absolute and relative, of various functions represents an important class of tasks solvable by use of differential cream of tartar. The theory behind finding maximum and minimum values of a function is based on the fact that the derivative of a function is equal to the slope of the tangent. When the values of a function increase as the value of the independent variable increases, the lines that are tangent to the graph of the function have positive slope, and the function is said to be increasing. Conversely, when the values of the function shine with increasing values of the independent variable, the tangent line s have veto slope, and the function is said to be decrease. Precisely at the point where the function changes from increasing to decreasing or from decreasing to increasing, the tangent line is horizontal (has slope 0), and the derivative is zero (With reference to figure 1, the function is decreasing to the left of point A, as well as between points B and C, and increasing between points A and B and to the right of point C). In order to find maximum and minimum points, first find the values of the independent variable for which the derivative of the function is zero, then substitute them in the original function to obtain the corresponding maximum or minimum values of the function. Second, inspect the behavior of the derivative to the left and right of each point.A wide variety of problems can be figure out by finding maximum or minimum values of functions. For example, suppose it is desired to maximize the area of a rectangle inscribed in a semicircle. The area of the rectangle is given by A = 2xy. The semicircle is given by x2 + y2 = r2, for y 0, where r is the radius. To simplify the mathematics, note that A and A2 are both maximum for the equal values of x and y, which occurs when the corner of the rectangle intersects the semicircle, that is, when y2 = r2 x2. Thus, we must find a maximum value of the function A2 = 42(r2 -x2) = 4r2x2 44. The required condition is that the derivative be equal to zero, that is, d(A2)/dx = 8r2x 163 = 0. This occurs when x = 0 or when x = 12(r +2 ). Clearly the area is a maximum when x = 12(r +2 ). Substitution of this value into the equation of the semicircle gives y = 12(r +2 ), that is, y = x. Thus, the maximum area of a rectangle inscribed in a semicircle is A = 2xy = r2.The problem of specialize the maximum or minimum of function is encountered in geometry, mechanics, physics, and other fields, and was one of the motivating factors in the development of the calculus in the seventeenth century.Let us recall th e procedure for the case of a function of one variable y=f(x). First, we determine points where f(x)=0. These points are called lively points. At critical points the tangent line is horizontal. This is shown in the figure below..The second derivative test is employed to determine if a critical point is a relative maximum or a relative minimum. If f()0, then x is a relative minimum. If f()The notions of critical points and the second derivative test carry over to functions of two variables. Let z=f(x, y). scathing points are points in the xy-plane where the tangent plane is horizontal.Since the formula vector of the tangent plane at (x,y) is given byThe tangent plane is horizontal if its normal vector points in the z direction. Hence, critical points are solutions of the equationsbecause horizontal planes have normal vector parallel to z-axis. The two equations above must be solve simultaneously. The Second Derivative Test for Functions of Two VariablesHow can we determine if the critical points found above are relative maxima or minima? We apply a second derivative test for functions of two variables.Let (x,y) be a critical point and defineWe have the following casesIf D0 and (,).)If D0 and (,).)0, then f(x,y) has a relative minimum at ( ,).).If DIf D=0, the second derivative test is inconclusive.Maxima and Minima in a Bounded RegionSuppose that our goal is to find the global maximum and minimum of our model function above in the square -2Relative extrema in the interior of the square.Relative extrema on the boundary of the square.Corner Points. We have already done step 1. There are extrema at (1, 0) and (-1, 0). The boundary of square consists of 4 parts. Side 1 is y=-2 and -2The original function of 2 variables is now a function of x only. We set g(x)=0 to determine relative extrema on Side 1. It can be shown that x=1 and x=-1 are the relative extrema. Since y=-2, the relative extrema on Side 1 are at (1,-2) and (-1,-2).On Side 2 (x=-2 and -2We set h(y)=0 to determine the relative extrema. It can be shown that y=0 is the only critical point, corresponding to (-2,0).We play the same game to determine the relative extrema on the other 2 sides. It can be shown that they are (2,0), (1,2), and (-1,2).Finally, we must include the 4 corners (-2,-2), (-2,2), (2,-2), and (2,2). In summary, the candidates for global maximum and minimum are (-1,0), (1,0), (1,-2), (-1,-2), (-2,0), (2,0), (1,2), (-1,2), (-2,-2), (-2,2), (2,-2), and (2,2). We evaluate f(x,y) at each of these points to determine the global max and min in the square. The global maximum occurs (-2,0) and (1,0). This can be seen in the figure above. The global minimum occurs at 4 points (-1,2), (-1,-2), (2,2), and (2,-2).One of the great powers of calculus is in the determination of the maximum or minimum value of a function. Take f(x) to be a function of x. Then the value of x for which the derivative of f(x) with respect to x is equal to zero corresponds to a maximum, a minimum or an inflexion point of the function f(x).The derivative of a function can be geometrically interpreted as the slope of the curve of the mathematical function y(t) plotted as a function of t. The derivative is positive when a function is increasing toward a maximum, zero (horizontal) at the maximum, and negative just after the maximum. The second derivative is the rate of change of the derivative, and it is negative for the process described above since the first derivative (slope) is always getting smaller. The second derivative is always negative for a hump in the function, corresponding to a maximum.A critical point (x,y) of f is a point where both the partial derivatives of the functions vanish. A local maximum, or a local minimum, is a critical point. In one variable, local maxima and minima are the only nondegenerate critical points. In two or more variables, other possibilities appear. For instance one has the bear down point, like the critical point of at (0 0). In some direc tions this looks like a maximum, in other directions this looks like a minimum. We try to classify critical points by looking at the second derivatives.APPLICATIONS OF MAXIMA AND MINIMA IN DAILY LIFEThere are numerous practical applications in which it is desired to find the maximum or minimum value of a contingent quantity. Such applications exist in economics, business, and engineering. Many can be solved using the methods of differential calculus described above. For example, in any manufacturing business it is usually possible to express profit as a function of the number of units sold. Finding a maximum for this function represents a straightforward way of maximizing profits. In other cases, the shape of a container may be determined by minimizing the amount of poppycock required to manufacture it. The design of piping systems is often based on minimizing pressure drop which in turn minimizes required pump sizes and reduces cost. The shapes of steel beams are based on maximiz ing strength.Finding maxima or minima also has important applications in linear algebra and game theory. For example, linear programming consists of maximizing (or minimizing) a particular quantity while requiring that certain constraints be imposed on other quantities. The quantity to be maximized (or minimized), as well as each of the constraints, is represented by an equation or inequality. The resulting system of equations or inequalities, usually linear, often contains hundreds or thousands of variables. The idea is to find the maximum value of a particular variable that represents a solution to the whole system. A practical example might be minimizing the cost of producing an automobile given certain known constraints on the cost of each part, and the time spent by each laborer, all of which may be interdependent. Regardless of the application, though, the key step in any maxima or minima problem is expressing the problem in mathematical terms.Everything in this world is based on the concept of maxima and minima, every time we always calculate the maximum and minimum of every data. Now-a-days results are also based on the concepts of grades which is again based on the concept of maxima and minima.
